ENALMH Supports Groundbreaking Event on Physiotherapy and Alzheimer’s Disease

On Saturday, September 21, 2024, the European Network of Active Living for Mental Health (ENALMH) will proudly support a pivotal event titled "Together in Daily Life: Information, Support, and Physiotherapy Management of Alzheimer’s Disease," to be held at the new amphitheater of Evangelismos General Hospital in Athens, Greece.
The event is organized by the Hellenic Federation of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders and the Pan-Hellenic Physiotherapists’ Association (PPTA), through its specialty groups on "Physiotherapy in Mental Health" and "Neurological Physiotherapy". It aims to shed light on the critical role of physiotherapy in the prevention, treatment, and daily management of Alzheimer’s disease.

ENALMH, as a co-organizer under the event’s auspices, continues to emphasize the importance of physical activity in maintaining mental health and cognitive function. The president of ENALMH, Alexandros Oikonomou, addressed the attendees during the opening ceremony, reaffirming the network’s commitment to promoting mental health through active living.

Alexandros Oikonomou, President of ENALMH, commented:
"As Europe faces the rising challenges of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s, it is essential to integrate physical activity and structured rehabilitation into the care of affected individuals. Physiotherapy can improve the quality of life, delay the progression of symptoms, and provide critical support to patients and their families. Our involvement in this event highlights ENALMH's mission to create healthier communities through active lifestyles and mental well-being."

The event will cover a wide range of topics, from the latest medical research on the causes and treatment of Alzheimer’s to the pivotal role that physiotherapy can play in balancing training, therapeutic exercise, cognitive-physical activities, and environmental adjustments for patients.
