Introducing COL.D.D Project: Promoting Inclusion, Diversity, and Health Through Cold-Water Swimming! Are you ready to dive into a transformative project that combines inclusion, diversity, and the pursuit of a healthier lifestyle? 

Cold Water Swimming for the Prevention of Dementia and Depression project aims to explore the existing methods of cold water exposure, synthesizing the main, most significant, and most promising methods.

The project activities will equip professionals working with adults with the skills and knowledge to carry out cold-water swimming training and workshops with adults, allowing them to participate in this activity safely, and in a way that could have these significant health benefits.

Project Objectives

  • Preventing dementia and tackling depression in people aged 50 +
  • Developing an innovative methodology for adults aged 50+
  • Testing the methodology that can change the approach towards the treatment of depression and dementia in adults
  • Providing professionals, trainers, and coaches dealing with adults at risk of dementia or elderly affected by depression with an innovative tool that can change their approach
  • Spread a useful method that can be applied all around Europe
  • Increasing the cooperation of different types of organisations in combatting depression and preventing dementia in adults over 50 years of age.

From May 4-6 2022, Athens will host the 9th IOPTMH CONFERENCE. Its theme will be Physiotherapy in mental health; what’s next?

The conference is organised by the International Organization of Physical Therapy in Mental Health (IOPTMH), which is subgroup of the World Confederation of Physiotherapy (WCPT / official consultant of the United Nations & the World Health Organization) in collaboration with the Panhellenic Physiotherapists Association / Scientific section "Physiotherapy in mental health" and is held for the first time in Greece. The conference, which will be held in a hybrid manner (physical presence & online) in full harmonization with the Ministerial Decisions and the current Health Protocols for the holding of conferences, is under the auspices of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Region and the Municipality of Athens while the President of the World Physiotherapy Organization will participate, among others, as a Keynote speaker and will address a greeting. More than 250 Health Professionals from all over the world have participated in the conference.
